Booties for Babies

I LOVE the Saartje's Bootees pattern on Ravelry. It's a quick knit and is a great use of stash yarn. Here are couple of recent pairs of booties that will be making their way to a couple of baby girls. I made a pair of these for Alice and loved them. They stayed on really well, although they didn't fit her for long. She got her mom's big ass feet :)

Where's Waldo Hat

I intended to send this hat to one of the holiday babies, but never got around to it. Maybe someone will have a baby around the holidays next year and I can send it. It's too small for Alice, now. It was supposed to be a holiday hat with the red and white, but once I finished it looked more like a "Where's Waldo" hat to me.

When I have been knitting lately it has all been for babies. I know so many pregnant women right now it is kind of ridiculous. I love baby knits though, because they are quick and thus more instantly gratifying than say a sweater for me would be. Although, I would like to knit something for myself again one of these days.

Here are a couple of hats I knit for my cousin who had her baby in December. At the time I made these they did not know if they were having a boy or a girl, so the green colors seemed like they would work for either. They had a boy, and I think that they actually are a bit more boyish colors, but Alice tried them on for me while I was making them and she looked pretty cute in these colors, too.

I knit these based on a basic adult hat pattern. I just fiddled around with it for a bit to figure out how many stitches would work for a baby. I think it ended up being 70 something and I was using maybe US 5 needles. I can't really remember, which is kind of a bummer because it means I'll have to do the trial and error process again the next time. Maybe it will come back to me if I decide to make more of these.

I also made a blanket for the babe. I used two flannel fabrics and sewed them together, then I crocheted a decorative edge all the way around. I must say this ended up being more time consuming than I originally anticipated. I did a blanket stitch by hand all the way around to give me something to crochet into. I found ways to do this with a machine online, but I couldn't find the right needle and just decided to go totally hand made. It turned out really cute and I'd love to make one again sometime, but I may look into a quicker option for establishing that base stitch row.

I got an email recently from the mom saying that the hats fit great and stay on his head and that the blanket gets lots of use for tummy time. So, sounds like these were successful gifts :)

I'm working on a whole bunch of other gifts that I hope to post about soon. Booties and hats and maybe another blanket, we'll see. I just hope I can find the time to get them all done before the babies are all a year old :)

Mommyhood has taken over

Well, here it is over 5 months after she arrived and I'm just now getting back to the blog. Sorry for the long absence. Mommyhood has taken over. She arrived on August 27th in the morning. 8 lb. 4 oz. 21.5" long. Healthy and perfect. We named her Alice and she's the sweetest little girl.

I have been able to finish a few projects since she was born and will post about them soon, but I thought that I should post some pics of the babe first. So, here she is!

Finished Nursery & Baby Stuff

I also completed a few more knitted items for the babe. Remember THESE pants? I added a crocheted flower to them to girly them up a bit and have paired them with a hot pink onesie and these super cute shoes that my mom got:

I loved these pants the first time I made them, so I decided to make another pair. This time in a more girly color (pink!). These will look cute with a whole bunch of the onesies I received as gifts. I also made a matching pair of mitts. Super easy to knit up and soooooo cute. Another one I can't wait to dress her up in:

It won't be much longer! I can't wait to meet her and hold her. Of course, she'll be taking up a whole lot of my time pretty soon so I may be away from the blog for a while. I have plenty of other things I want to make for her though, so hopefully I'll be back soon!

The Nursery

I've been researching items for the nursery for a month or more now. The overall idea is a forest theme, so the patterns and accessories revolve around that. We didn't want to go too girly or too kiddy, so we're hoping the room is fun and hip.

We plan to get our furniture from IKEA. The dresser we've picked out is this one:

It will also double as a changing table. The red color is what inspired the accents. Here is what we've purchased so far and what we plan to do with it:

I can't wait to see it all come together!

Fisherman's Baby Sweater & Matching Booties

Our friends welcomed a baby boy this spring out in Seattle. I thought one of THESE sweaters in an oatmeal type colorway would be cute because it would be reminiscent of a fisherman's sweater. It took me longer that I had planned to finish the set, but it was worth the extra time. It arrived safe and sound this week, so I can finally share some pictures.

I also made a pair of matching booties. I found the pattern HERE. I modified it a little to make it more boyish and added the buttons. They turned out super cute. These could be a go-to gift for me from now on.

Feather and Fan Sweater & Matching Booties

I've finished the Feather and Fan sweater that I mentioned in THIS post. It turned out soooooo cute! I can hardly wait to get it on the babe. I still have some fabric to make a matching dress, hopefully soon.

I also made a pair of matching booties because I had a good deal of yarn leftover. I may make another pair still, because this first pair is really tiny and I think by the time she'll fit into the sweater these booties may be too small. I got the pattern from Ravelry HERE. They were really easy and fast to knit. If I still have enough of the yarn left after the second pair of booties, I may make a headband too. I just love the yarn! I used the Berroco Sox Yarn in the "Bonham" colorway. It's a really great yarn. I'm thinking I should find some more projects to use this yarn on. Soft, easy to knit and the colors are so fantastic!

First Crochet Baby Hat

I've been wanting to try crocheting a baby hat for awhile. For some reason, I've done other crochet projects but never a hat. I found this sweet pattern on Ravelry from McKinley's Closet (click here for pattern link). It was so easy and so fast, I finished it tonight while watching the last half of "Deadliest Catch."

I added one of my fabric flower hair bows to see how it would look. Looks pretty cute, I think. And, because it is a hair clip it is easy to take it off or swap it out for a different one. I may have to make a handful of these little (it is so tiny!) hats.

Leafy Shrug

I've finished the first part of Baby M's coming home outfit. It is the Leafy Shrug. Made from the pattern by StitchMama on Ravelry.

It was a super quick and really fun knit. I may make a couple more in larger sizes (the pattern includes instructions for 12 sizes!).

I used cotton yarn because I'm due in August and didn't want anything too hot. It worked up very nice.

Next step is the dress. Can't wait to get started on that!

Tank Top Summer Dress
Since Summer is on it's way and my growing belly is much more comfortable in dresses than pants or skirts, I thought I'd try making a dress from an old tank top and some fabric I had in my stash. I've found a few tutorials online that detail how to create a dress like this one. I don't remember which I used to get me started, but here are a couple good ones:

30 minute tank dress
Elastic Band Empire Waist Dress

I used the scraps from cutting the tank to embellish the front, as well as some lace ribbon I had in my stash. I also used elastic thread in the bobbin of my machine to sew the fabric to the tank, instead of using wide elastic (I didn't have any). It created a bit more stretch to the dress, but not as much as I was hoping for. It still turned out super cute, and as long as I can keep getting it on over my bump I'll be wearing this all summer. I hope to make a couple more, maybe utilizing the elastic waistband technique in the tutorials above.

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth . . .

I've just been busy with life :) We moved downstate in November/early December and then moved into our new home at the end of January. We both ended up with jobs within a few weeks of being in the new house, so it felt like all of the sudden life got really busy again. We're still unpacking and settling in.

The most exciting news, however, is that I'm glad I held onto THIS piece I finished last summer:

because I'll have someone to model it for me come August! We couldn't be more excited and I now have a long wish list of things to knit and sew. I just started the "Feather and Fan" sweater from the book 101 Designer One Skein Wonders.

I'm using Berroco Sox yarn in this gorgeous purple colorway. It's going to be so cute! And, I just found some fabric in my stash that will make an adorable dress to match. So much to do . . .

I've got a couple of finished projects to post as well. Hope to get around to doing that this week and hope to get back into more regular posting as we continue to get settled in.

Cowl Girls

After THIS post, I had a couple of girlfriends request a cowl. Of course I was more than happy to oblige. They turned out pretty cute. This time I used the yarn that the pattern called for, Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick. I made one in the "Charcoal" color and one in "Gray Marble." Can't wait to send them off!

Star Crossed Slouchy Beret

I received a gift certificate to Center Street Knits for Christmas from my nieces. I was able to get over to the shop this week and purchase some yarn and a free copy of the Star Crossed Slouchy Beret pattern. It only took me a day to knit this up, and it's so soft and cozy. Mine turned out a bit bigger than the one they had on display in the store, but I think it still looks great, and I am happy that it covers my ears and still has the slouch to it. I mean, shouldn't hats cover your ears? Isn't that the point :)

Chunky Lace Cowl

My MIL gave me a bunch of Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk yarn this winter. Since I've been working on a blanket lately that is kind of boring to knit (looks cute, but it's just garter stitch over and over and over) I wanted to knit something quick and with some texture and fun to it. So, I grabbed some of the Alpaca Silk, found an awesome cowl pattern on Ravelry and got to work. Here's the final product:

I love it! It is soooooo soft and will be so warm.

I finished this hat last week. It turned out great! I found the pattern on the Lion Brand Yarn website. It's called the "Plum Perfect Hat." It was a bit of a challenge, but I love the texture and so far it works pretty well :)

Last Custom Project for a Little While

I just finished this skirt and shirt set for a friend. Turned out pretty cute, I think. I'm going to be taking a break from custom work for a little while b/c we're in the process of moving and I may not have access to a sewing machine for a bit.

I hope to start the new year off in a new space and maybe even with a new sewing machine (I'm thinking a serger would be nice). Cheers!

Back in October we were downstate for a Michigan football game. I found out that Melynda of French Press Knits was doing a trunk show at Have You Any Wool? in Berkley. I decided I'd stop by and introduce myself. Melynda and I are connected in a few ways (through a college friend and a cousin). It was great to meet her in person. I also picked up a copy of her Aravis Cowl pattern and some Malabrigo yarn. I finished this last week. It is pretty sweet. I LOVE the color and the yarn is fantastic! The hood is such a sweet touch. Mine is a little snug when I have it up, but it's warm enough just as a cowl around my neck.

My SIL asked me to make a tooth fairy pillow for my niece. Her birthday is coming up and it will be a birthday gift. After finding out her favorite color is green I dug through my fabric scraps and found these awesome greens. Took a little time to think about the design and then Viola! Pillow, done. Mittens for the Season

I recently finished these mittens to keep my hands warm this winter. We're in a kind of "transitioning" period right now and all my hats, scarves and mittens are in a box in storage. So, I decided I'd just knit myself some new mittens. I LOVE the colors. They match my sharf (shawl/scarf) and they match another knit that I recently finished and will post about soon.

While I was down in Kalamazoo I was able to finish up my first shawl! The pattern calls it a scarf, but it has the shaping of a short shawl. It is so soft and so versatile.

The pattern was pretty easy. The edging is crocheted and it took me some time to figure out exactly what stitches to pick up. The yarn is fabulous! I will definitely use it again . . . maybe even for another one of these. But, first, I will be doing a project on large size needles :)

This was made using the "Typha Scarf" pattern in the Fall 2010 issue of Knitscene.

I used Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine yarn.

Holiday Craft Fair Follow-Up

I was down in Kalamazoo this past weekend for the Holiday Craft Fair at the Fairgrounds. My mom was able to help me out with this fair and we had a lot of fun. Our hands almost froze off while we were setting up and the doors were wide open and it was only 20 degrees outside . . . BUT we warmed right up after the show started.

I am way behind in giving proper thanks to my Fabric Fairy. Today, I put the finishing touches on a few items I will be sending to her. I made an apron for the fairy and three peasant tops for her granddaughter who will be one in December. I hope they enjoy the items, as I really enjoyed making them and the fabric is so fantastic.

Wouldn't these look so cute with a pair of jeans? I love the vintage vibe of the fabrics and the style of the top. Adding the bird appliqué just gives it a little bit of a modern twist.

Road Trip: Gwen Frostic Studio (Benzonia, MI)

Yesterday, we took a road trip. We headed out to Benzonia, MI to visit the Gwen Frostic studio and store. For those of you who aren't familiar with Gwen Frostic's work, you're really missing out. After I graduated from college they named the new "School of Art" after Gwen (previously it was a "Department of Art"). Her prints are simple, yet have so much depth to them. You can read more about Gwen HERE. You can also visit the website for the studio/shop HERE.

Our trip started with a stop at Don's Drive-In in Traverse City for some lunch. Nothing like a Coney Dog, some fries and a Coke to start off a great road trip.

Once we were successfully full, we were off to Benzonia! I am certain that anyone who lives in Michigan should visit the Gwen Frostic Studio. It's very special. The building itself is built into the landscape and sort of blends in with the landscape around it. I believe this was Gwen's intent when she built it.

When you walk through the door, you are greeted by water fountains and pools and large wooden beams . . . and then rows and rows, and shelves and shelves of notecards, books, calendars, napkin and placemat sets. It's almost breathtaking.

Just below the shop area you can actually watch as pressmen print items from Gwen's blocks. They have an impressive set up and I was in awe. Of course, I got a couple photos . . .

I also HAD to take a video so that you all could hear the sounds of these glorious presses. It was the coolest "swoosh, swoosh, swoosh" sound. This is my first time posting a video . . . enjoy!

This place was spectacular! So inspiring. It made me want to get my little Kelsey press up here so I can try some more printing on that tiny little thing :) We'll see if I can find a good place for it for the winter and make something happen.

Since we had the time, we did a little driving tour of the area on our way back. We stopped at the Point Betsie Lighthouse to take in some Lake Michigan views and enjoy a bit of time outside on such a gorgeous day.

My mom's very good friend gave me a bunch of fabric that belonged to her mother, who used to quilt but can't do so anymore. I can't believe how awesome all of it is. This woman has an eye for great floral prints. Check them out:

I'd like to add a little more flair to the skirt and also even out the neckline a bit, but overall I think it's pretty cute. I'm also thinking of adding a few of these to my product line. Wouldn't it be so adorable with some tights and maybe a matching pair of THESE baby shoes?

Let's Accessorize!

I'm gearing up for a Holiday Craft Show in Kalamazoo on November 6. If you're in the area, be sure to come by and say "hi," and do a little holiday shopping :)

I decided to add some accessories to my inventory. I've been playing around with baby shoes, hairbows and crocheted bracelets. Here is a sneak peak, so far, of what I'll be debuting at the show (keep your eyes out for possible leg warmers and hats as well!)

Soooooo cute! and the perfect addition to any of our pant or skirts outfits.

Hair Bows
No little girls outfit is complete without a hair accessory! I'm playing around with different variations on fabric flowers, and creating headbands, pony tail holders and clips.

Crocheted Button Bracelet Cuffs
I love these! You can wear one . . . or two . . . or three if you really want to get noticed. They are super soft and comfy and add just a bit of fun to any outfit. I plan to have these in adult and children's sizes.

Sister Skirts

I was asked by a friend to make matching skirts for her girls. She requested pinks and browns and polka dots with stripes. She also requested that they be "opposites." I chose the do the stripes on top for the older sister (6 years) and the polka dots for the younger (1 year). They turned out really cute:

I also created some matching hair accessories. One is a headband, the other a pony tail holder. I'll highlight these again in my next post.

American Sewing Expo

I found out about the American Sewing Expo just a few days before heading downstate for the weekend. Since our Saturday was already planned out with a football game (Go Blue!) and a baseball game (Go Tigers!) I took a look at what the Expo had to offer on Sunday. I found a session titled "Sewing & Crafting for Profit" and decided to check it out. It was worth it. I got a lot of tips and learned some new info. I also walked around the Expo for a bit and checked out the vendors. Lots of great fabrics, notions and machines. I was particularly drawn to Nifty Thrifty Dry Goods.Their display was awesome! I took a picture:

The colors and textures were pure eye candy. I restrained myself and didn't buy anything, but I plan to check out their website. I also found out that the Expo happens every year in Novi, Michigan so I plan to explore more next year.

I was fairly successful, but I'd still like to work out some kinks. To the average eye it probably looks fine, but to my critical eye it's just not quite good enough. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to use it, but I've also got two other fabrics to try to get it just right.

Dreaming of letterpress . . .

My Kelsey is packed up and in storage at the moment. It's probably the best place for it to be right now, considering the production it has been to get it working in the past. Anyhow, this past weekend we hit up the Antique Fair in Petoskey. I haven't been to many (if any) antique fairs, and before owning the press I really didn't have that much interest in them. I found one vendor selling block type and blocks for printing and I found a few treasures. I can't wait to try them out once we've settled somewhere that I can set up the press.

I was particularly fond of these printing blocks. The one on the far left is a scene with a couple fishermen in a boat, then the scotty dogs, a small telephone icon and a much larger fish. Should be fun to play with these!

I chose to purchase the letters that spell "Boy" and "Girl" as I've always thought it would be fun to do some letterpress birth announcement cards at some point. I picked out letters that aren't all the same typeface so there will be some movement and fun when they are printed.

. . . like this jumper. I initially thought it would become a gift . . . but after the number of hours I spent creating it, I think I'll hold onto it. Hopefully, one day, I'll have a daughter to wear it. For now, it's so cute I may just keep it hanging in the closet to adore every now and then.

Fun with Frogs!

I got a request for a frog themed gift for a baby shower. I have completed the stuffed frog and will now move on to create an outfit using a frog appliqué (currently working on the design). Check out this little guy, though. Isn't he adorable? You can make one yourself if you want. The pattern is available on the Lion Brand website. My mom asked me if I could make her a couple of aprons similar to her favorite one that was starting to fall apart. I said "of course!" and she let me bring the apron home with me to copy the pattern. Here is apron #1. I bought enough fabric to make a couple of them. The coolest part about this apron, I think, is that you don't have to tie it. The straps criss/cross in the back so you simply slide it on and you're good to go.

Now, time to do some baking?

It's been awhile, but alot has been happening

Whew. Finally some time to post here. Since moving across the country, getting Lilly Jean Creations set up online, preparing my booth for my first craft fair . . . this summer has been a busy one for crafting. So, finally I have time to post about it all.

On July 10 and 11 I did my first craft fair in Charlevoix, MI. It was a fun event, the weather cooperated, I met some great people and made a few sales. I learned a bit about setting up a booth at these type of events, what people liked (and bought) and am thinking I might still try to do another one this summer. We'll see though. It's quite a bit of work and for some of the events you have to apply pretty early. Anyhow, here are some pictures of my booth:

I also had some stuffed crocheted birds, a mobile made of the crocheted birds and some of my fill-in invitations for sale. I thought it was a good mix of product.

My other big project has been setting up the online shop at lillyjean.com and also posting some items on Etsy. I've finally got almost all of my product up online, so check it out at lillyjean.com/shop or on Etsy at www.lillyjean.etsy.com.

I am working on designing some invitations that can be customized and then simply printed from a PDF file that I email. I call them "U-Print" invitations. I'm hoping to have some of these up for sale soon. Here is a sneak peek at one of the designs:

The colors and all of the text would be customized. Each 8.5" x 11" PDF file has one wedding invitation, one response card and one "save the date" card on it. This way, each page printed is equal to one full set for each guest. All you need is a paper cutter, or exacto knife and ruler.

I am still knitting THIS. It's taking me some time, but I'll get it done. Hopefully before the end of the year. I have yet to decide if I should gift it or keep it. We'll see :)

The extra time off work paid off. On top of giving me time to sort and pack for our move (one of my most favorite things to do . . . J/K), it gave me the time to get the Lilly Jean website up and running.

The only piece left is to create the online store. I plan to do this once we're in Michigan and hopefully will have something up and ready in mid to late June.

The joys of packing

I'm in the middle of packing up all my craft stuff for our big move across the country. This is no easy task, but today I found some items I had forgotten about and thought I would share. All of these items came to me from my great grandmother via my mom.

As a graphic designer I am a sucker for old packaging. It's usually very simple and clean. A few of these items get a bit more detailed, but all of them are pretty special.

Baby Expo success!

The Baby Expo was a minor success. I sold enough product to cover my costs for being there, along with a little bit extra. It was a fun event and it was packed the entire day.

I shared my booth/table with Kelly from Bric-a Brac-a. She was selling the cutest crocheted hats. They were made to look like animals, so she had bear hats with ears, lion hats, frog hats with eyes, super cute. She also had some with flowers and large bright colored buttons attached. I wish her lots of luck.

Sitting to my right was Mrs. Claus Sews. She makes the sweetest baby bonnets. They are made from handkerchiefs and after they are used at the baptism or christening of the baby you take out the ribbons, iron the hanky and put it away. Then, it is the "something old" when the baby gets married. She also makes lots of other items, including super cute baby booties.

I had lots of visitors who took my business card so I'm hoping to set up my website this week. I plan to hold off on opening the online shop until we are settle in Michigan as we have to transfer banks and I don't want to start selling with one account and then stop to start selling with another.

We're busy packing and getting ready for the big move. This most likely means a bit of a break from crafting for a bit. I'll be back in touch when we've settled down in Michigan.

I am almost ready for the big day. All that is left to do is get change at the bank for my cash box and pick up some sort of clothesline and clothes pins (more about that in a minute). Below are pics of the finished, packaged product. Oh, got my business cards today and they look great! You can see them in the birdie photos, as I used them as tags.

Gift Sets packaged
I used some clear pouches I had left from a few years back to package the gift sets. I then printed a label I can fill in for size and price.

Onesies & T-shirts packaged
I bought some "favor" bags at Michael's and used them to package the onesies and t-shirts that I'm selling individually. Used the same label treatment on the back for size and pricing info.

Crocheted birdies packaged
Using the same favor bags I packaged the crocheted toys. I used my business cards as the tags and tied the bag shut with a small ribbon. I wrote the price on the back of the card.

Invitations packaged
Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish the letterpress cards. It just became to tedious to do last minute, so I'll pack them up and plan to finish them this summer. I opted instead to print the same design on nice paper on my inkjet printer. They turned out great. I've packaged them in sets of 5 cards. I found the plastic display racks at Staples. They are some sort of mail/desk organizer, but work perfectly for displaying the cards, and they were super cheap.

This is how I am envisioning having my table set up. Still undecided about the smaller basket. I plan to string a clothesline to the front of the table and hang some of my pieces on that so people can see them.

One Week to Go until Baby Expo . . .

I'm feeling a bit frazzled, but it will be worth it. I'm a busy bee working to finish up everything for the Baby Expo next Saturday. I spent most of Thursday printing the first phase of my letterpress baby announcements and shower invitations. I thought this would be the hardest part of the process because I had to rig the press to hold the paper in a not so standard place, but I got it to work and so far they look great. But, alas, today as I worked to continue printing the second round to be the graphics at the bottom of the design I hit some snags. I had to take a break and luckily I received my clothing tags in the mail today. So, I sewed in a whole bunch of tags and now feel like I'm making steady progress. Whew, on top of all of this we are getting ready to move across the country. Lots going on, but I am sure it will all work itself out in the end and in the meantime I will take breaks to enjoy margaritas (on my way to make one after finishing this post).

Here are some pics of my most recent undertakings:

"Faux" gauge pins holding paper in place on the press. I used self sticking photo corners cut in half and taped to the platen. It worked, so who cares how ridiculous it may look, right?

Prints drying! Yay! I'm 1/3 of the way there. Hope I make it all the way before next Saturday.

Clothing tags! They complete the sets. Now all I have to do is print labels for the clear bags I'm packaging these in.

Sneak Peek

I am gearing up for my first expo. A friend of mine organized the first baby expo here in Bozeman this spring and I signed on for a small booth/table. I'm bringing back my Lilly Jean brand name and have re-designed a logo (first image below). I'm working pretty hard and trying not to freak out about how much stuff I want to get done before May 15. Thought I should share a sneak peek of what I've been working on.

I plan to sell these appliqued onesies and pants sets. My "theme" is elephants and birds and I'm working on using fabrics for boys and girls and some fabrics that I think could go boy or girl. I am currently working on the cutest little jumper. I love the stitch pattern and it's super easy. I've managed to memorize it, so it must be.

I just finished these pants to go with the onesie. I made them entirely from scratch, created my own pattern! It was harder than I expected, but worth it. This little set will be a gift eventually. I have two more onesies that I also plan to make pants to go with.

The elephant is also my design. I'm making it a goal to create more original pieces this year. Take a shot at pattern making, do more illustrating. I'm currently working on some letterpress plates to have made. Along with creating more original pieces I am working on not being overly critical of myself. That is hard. This little outfit turned out well though.

Letterpress or bust!

So, here it is almost a year since I got the press. I'm a bit embarrassed it's taken me this long to sit down and make it work, but better late than never. I decided to tackle our holiday cards. I probably had three different ideas laid out before settling on this one and getting down to business.

A note: Letterpress is not easy.

But, it is very rewarding when you figure it out. Setting type is tricky and I don't think I'm doing it quite right, but for now it worked and that's all that matters. Below are pics of the process. I think once I got it printing evenly it took me about an hour to print all the cards, maybe not even that. Also, even prior to all of this I soaked the press in a vinegar and lemon juice bath for about 3 days. It's amazing how much of the rust came off. Some of it is back already, but I think it helped.

Next step is to figure out how to get some custom plates made. Since the press is pretty tiny I probably won't be doing any type heavy designs with it, but I have some ideas for images/illustrations that I think would make cute notecards, etc. I'm in the process of figuring out what size base I should order. I'm working with Elum Designs. They have been super helpful.

Here are press proofs done while I was figuring out how to get an even print. The process involves tightening and loosing screws and adding padding to the tympan. It is tedious, but well worth it.

Hat and Scarf Set

Before I made the six scarves for my co-workers I tried out the pattern. I had enough yarn leftover to make a hat to match. Turned out pretty cute. The only thing is that the hat is a little big. I may stitch some elastic thread into it to tighten it up a little. I like how the flower "pops" and the way the hat curls along the edge. Cuteness.

I found a super cute scarf pattern (once again, on the Lion Brand site) and it was so easy I decided to make one for each of my six co-workers this year for Christmas. They all turned out really cute and the girls loved them. The scarf curls and when you wrap it around your neck it looks really full and fun.

I also created some tags for these gifts. It's the first time I've tagged my work. I used iron-on transfer paper and an old t-shirt. They look really good. I got just as many compliments on the tags as the scarves.

Tutu-ka-choo-choo

I was the tooth fairy for Halloween this year. In order to make my costume look more "fairy-ish" I cut the petticoat from my wedding dress to fit under the tooth fairy dress. This left me with a TON of tulle and no idea what to do with it. My co-worker and friend, Kendra suggested I make tutus for my nieces for Christmas. Mmmm, great idea! So, that is exactly what I did. Below are a few picks of the finished pieces. We also got the girls shirts and tights at Target to complete the look. Hopefully they'll have some fun dressing up and dancing around in them.

I have finished what I think will be my last toy for awhile. I'm hoping to focus on getting my office space set up and start playing around with my letterpress printer.

Here is "Happy Puppy" from the Lion Brand site again. This girl is tiny, but turned out pretty cute. I used stash yarn that I don't think is as thick and heavy as the yarn the pattern calls for. She and "Pink Puppy" will be a gift for a friend of my mom who is having a girl this winter. Fun!

Baby Pants

I wasn't going to post these until they were complete, but all I have left to do is put the elastic in the waste band and they are so dang cute I couldn't wait to share.

I LOVE these little pants. I love them so much that I'm going to hold onto them for a bit. I have some ideas for onesies to match that would create an outfit so I'm at least holding onto them until I have a chance to work on those.

I used another free pattern from the Lion Brand Website. It's the "Baby Brights Pants" pattern. I used Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino yarn. Love that stuff, but it is a bit pricey. I think just for the yarn these are $20-$30 baby pants. I didn't check my gauge and had to do some adjusting. Basically I reached the length the pattern called for before I reached the number of stitches. I've read that length is more important, so I just altered the pattern for the number of stitches. I think with baby pants it is probably okay to do that. They don't look funky or anything :) I did the striping on my own, the pattern calls for a particular Lion Brand Yarn that looks like it self stripes. I may have to make a few more pairs of these with pink, green, purple maybe? I think I'll try a different yarn that is a bit more affordable though. I'm still working on my seam sewing skills. Matching stripes can be tricky too, but these turned out pretty well.

Pink Puppy Love

My mom asked me to make some gifts for a friend who is having a girl later this fall. She picked a couple of the puppy toys from the Lion Brand site. I am loving all of the toy patterns on that site. PLUS, they just made ALL of their patterns FREE! So awesome! I'm working on a pair of pants from the site right now as well. I think they are going to be super cute.

Anyhow, here is the happy pink puppy :) Isn't she cute! You can find her on the site HERE. I was able to use stash yarn again and I embroidered her entire face. I think the pattern calls for plastic eyes. I find it's easy enough to embroider eyes and it is safer for babies.

My friend Cathy asked if I would make a stuffed toy for her son. I sent her a link to the Lion Brand website's "Toys" free patterns and she chose the stuffed Pirate. I dug into my stash yarn to find colors I thought would be the most pirate-like. The final outcome is pretty cute. He had an awesome smile on his face when she gave it to him. Aarrrgh! Pirates rule!

Giraffe-mania

I just finished this giraffe for my friends daughter. She'll be two next week and her birthday party theme is "safari/jungle". I'd been eyeing this giraffe pattern for a while and had just the right colors in my stash to make it. It was super easy, fun and fast. I love projects that I can finish in less than a week. Also, my friend's little girl is apparently very into giraffes right now. So, it was all around a great project.

I used the pattern on the Lion Brand Yarn website. It is free if you register with the site. They have TONS of free patterns available.

My favorite part is the head/face. The horns and ears are so dang cute!

I'm headed out to visit my good friend Beth in Colorado for the weekend. It was her daughter's 5th birthday today. I thought it would be fun to take her a little something and decided on this awesome scarf ("Pom-Pom Boa") from the One Skein book by Leigh Radford. It was super easy and used up a ton of my stash. I know it's not really a very "summery" birthday gift, but she starts kindergarten this fall and so maybe she'll wear it to school :)

Cupcakes & Dolls

I recently finished a couple of fun projects as gifts for some sweet girls. I made the cupcake for my niece for her 1st birthday and the doll for a good friend's daughter for her 4th birthday. Both turned out great!

I love the cupcake, even though the candle is a bit off in terms of scale. I used the cupcake pattern from "One Skein" and then I did the candle myself, using a bit of trial and error. The doll is from the Black Apple pattern. I knitted some leg warmers and made the skirt with stash fabric. My friend's daughter loves dancing and is taking dancing classes.

Baby Sweater & Booties

My friend Kim is due in May and is having a girl. Her shower was today and this is what I made for her.

All of these patterns were really easy. I am a big fan of the booties. They are adorable and a super fast knit. I think it took me about 1/2 hour to do one. I used stash yarn for this entire project (so proud of myself!). The only purchase I had to make was the buttons. The sweater pattern called for a zipper, but I thought that buttons would be more fun. They all turned out so well.

Technicolor Dream Sweater FINISHED!

I finished my technicolor dream sweater! Yay! It turned out really well. There is a lot of extra to the front piece/neck, but I like it. It is super warm, so I don't know how much I'll get to wear it until Fall rolls around again. It feels good to have finished it. I've been knitting :) I finished a hat for a friends new baby boy over the holidays and I'm very close to finishing the first sweater I'm knitting for myself. About a week or two before Christmas, my husband asked me "If you could have anything for Christmas, what would it be?" After thinking for a minute I said "A letterpress printer would be really cool." He had already bought the press. Here it is:

Kelsey Excelsior 3" x 5" Model M press

It came with a couple of type sets and a handful of super cool icons (dragonfly, bird, a couple flowers and religious symbols). I had to order new rollers and so am waiting for those to come back before I can actually print on it. I've already set my first "plate." Excuse my mistakes, I'm still learning the lingo. I can't wait to post my first creation. It will be a month or so for the rollers, so stay tuned!

Felted bags

Another project finished, and gifted! I made this purse for my mom for her birthday. I knitted it and then felted it and added the flower embellishment. This is the first project I have felted. It was easy, however, I think I'd felt for longer or use a bit heavier yarn next time, but I love the shape and color of the bag.

I was so fond of the felting that I thought I would try some more. I used the "Felted Sweater" project in Alter Knits. It was very easy. I got the sweater for about $2 at the Salvation Army. This could be a very fun project to try again. I can imagine with some embellishments or a fun sweater you could really have fun with it.

Gifts Galore!

I have finished up my holiday gifts and thought I'd post some pics. Here are a couple of dolls that I made for my niece. I used the Black Apple doll pattern. You can find it HERE.I decided to make her a cowboy and cowgirl to reflect where her aunt and uncle live. They turned out really well, I think. It took me forever to decide on how to paint the cowboy face. I went super simple for both faces, but I think that is okay. I found the buttons for the "belt buckles" at JoAnns and I decided to add the handkerchiefs to give them a bit more character. I hope she likes them. I love this pattern. It is a great way to use up scrap fabric. I made a couple of other dolls as well, but I haven't decided who to give them to yet. I will definitely be making more of these.

I also finished up some small journals for my co-workers. I used Amy Butler designed scrapbook paper for the covers and cream "résumé" paper for the interior pages. I saddle stitched them with embroidery floss. I think they are cute. I will probably make some more of these in 2009.

1st Birthday Photo Album

My good friend Julie's son turns one tomorrow. They had a party for him this weekend. Along with a book and a sweatshirt from our Alma Mater, I made this album as a gift for the family. I took 12 of my favorite photos that Julie sent over the last year, converted them to black and white and printed them. I then window matted and mounted them into the pages of the book. It turned out well. I found some pretty cool fabrics in fat quarters at the fabric store and used a blue accent ribbon for the cover.

Socks & Dolls

Hello! I have quite a few projects in the works and in my head :) Below are pictures of my first pair of socks (they are tube socks though, so I haven't yet tackled the heel in a pair of socks) and a doll that I made. I am planning to make a handful of these dolls to give as Christmas gifts to my nieces and friends daughters. They're really easy and are a great use of my enormous collection of scrap fabrics. Wedding Album Gift

Here is my most recent album creation. I made it for two good friends who were married this summer. The color choices reflect the wedding colors. It turned out really well.

It holds 12 4" x 6" photos. Most of my albums are made approximately 6" x 9" with a 1.5" - 2" spine width. Each page will hold one or two 4" x 6" photos. It depends on whether you choose to put photos on the fronts and backs of pages, or just on the front.

Sear-Sucker Blazer Finished

Well, after 3 months and tons of patience I finally finished the sear-sucker blazer that I intended to be a birthday gift for Jim. This whole project was pretty difficult, but overall I am pleased with the final outcome. Jim wore it out to an office summer party and received lots of compliments (and a couple of order requests for me). It's heavier that I expected, but I'm not sure how I could have fixed that, unless I used a very thin fabric for the lining, or didn't line it at all. Anyhow, I will try to get a pic of Jim actually wearing it, but for now . . . here it is:

Photo Album

Our friends AV and Sonia came out for a visit in July. As part of a belated wedding gift I crafted a photo album for them. Below are the pics.

Jim and I picked out the fabrics together. Initially the idea was to have them swapped, with the stripes on the spine and the pattern on the cover. When we got home we thought it would look better this way.

I used brown for the interior.

I believe the album had 10 or 12 pages. It is approximately 9" wide by 6" tall and 1.5" thick. The pages are meant to hold 4" x 6" photos.

Mom's Sweater

My mom sent me a pic of her in the sweater I made for Mother's Day. It looks great! She loves it, too. She said she likes the softness of the yarn and the fact that it is cotton. That way she can wear it all summer to stay warm in the evenings, but not too warm. This is by far the best piece I've knitted to date.

New projects

I've got a couple of projects that I am working on right now. The first is a sear sucker blazer for my husband. I started this one a month and half ago with the intention of finishing it as a birthday gift (his b-day is May 7). Well, that didn't happen, so now I am working on finishing it before summer is here and gone :) Just kidding, I hope to finish it up in the next couple of weeks. I have never made a blazer before and I don't know if I would do it again. The hardest part by far was the collar and it is in no way perfect. I am planning on doing a top stitch close the the edge as a finishing touch in hopes that it will mask some of the imperfections. Right now I am working on getting the sleeves on. Jim tried it on today and it looks like it will fit pretty good . . . thank God! I don't know if I would know how to fix it if it didn't fit. Here are some pics:

There is some puckering at the corner seam and I don't know what I did wrong. If I ever decide to do a blazer or anything with a collar again I think I would practice a few times before.

The second project I just started yesterday. It is a super cute baby shrug. The pattern is from the Fall 2007 issue of KnitSimple. I'm kind of winging it as I didn't check my gauge that closely and am using a different type of yarn. It's not that different, but you never know. I'm trying to work through my stash. Not sure yet who will be on the receiving end of this one. I'm thinking of making a little dress to go along with it. It is kind of a blah color, but if I use a bright colored ribbon for the tie I think it could be super cute. Make a dress with pinks and browns? We'll see. It's an easy K3, P3 rib pattern. Mother's Day Present

I haven't posted that much lately, mostly because I haven't had that many projects going on. This one I made for my Mom for Mother's Day. I finished it in February. I started it in January because I was worried I might not finish it. Having never made a full sized, adult sweater before I was unsure how quickly I would be able to finish it and if I would have any issues with the yarn or pattern, etc. Needless to say, it was super easy and actually really fun to make. The pattern is from Knitscene Winter '07/Spring '08 issue. I had wanted to make it in blue, but my local yarn shop didn't have enough yarn in a blue color, so I went with purple. I love that there were no seams. Personally, seaming a sweater is my least favorite part. If I can do one without having to do any seaming I'm a happy knitter. I love the seed stitch border and the ribbon accent is so fun. I got the ribbon from the site suggested in the pattern: lesbonribbon.com. I asked my Mom to send me a picture of her in it. Once she does I'll post it so you can see it on her. Until then, here are a couple of pictures of the finished piece. I will have to dig through my stash for the yarn that I used. It's cotton and I believe hand-dyed. I got it a shop here in Bozeman called Stix.

New t-shirt

It's been a long time. I have been working on projects for gifts and don't want to post them until they have been given . . . so, I have had some fun with a book I got for my birthday. I heard about it from my friend Jill. It's called "Generation T: 108 ways to transform a T-shirt. I added the sleeves, the original project left the shirt sleeveless. I think it turned out okay. I love the hood, and it was super easy to make. I'm hoping to make a few more of the projects, especially a bag and I've got a couple of my own ideas floating around in my head.

Baby Bolero

I've finished my first project from one of the books I got for Christmas. I made the Baby Bolero from One Skein: 30 Quick Projects to Knit and Crochet.I used a yarn I had in my stash that I think is a Wool Ease blend. I had balled it and didn't have the tag anymore. The pattern calls for a different yarn, but I didn't have anything that resembled that so I went with the wool blend. It turned out pretty good. I am still working on the picking up stitches part of doing collars. It's very tricky, I think. So, I'm happy with how this turned out, but would have been a little happier with a better collar. I had to pull it out once and didn't really want to do it again. Here are some pics:

I know a few women that are due in the spring so I'm pretty sure this one will be a gift. I'm playing with the idea of adding a crocheted flower pin, but I'll need to brush up on my crochet skills, so we'll see.

Exciting freelance projects completed!

These aren't so much crafty projects, but I'm super excited that I've finally finished them. Just today the Comma-Q Architecture web site went LIVE! This project has been going on for over a year, with a change in concept and a total re-design. But, in the end it is totally worth it because I think the final product better suits the office, their work, people and clients. I learned a lot and feel a bit more confident in my web coding skills. They're great clients, very creative and very understanding in terms of my learning curve. Here's a link: www.commaq.com

Sweater ending

I decided not to add anything to the baby cardigan and am off to send it to my good friend Julie for her baby Ian. I'm sure she'll love it and hopefully it will fit him okay. I hope she'll send me a picture of him in it, or I'll get to see him in it soon. My next project is still undecided. . . I just got a few knitting books for Christmas that I'm hoping will help me use up some of my leftover yarn. They are 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders and One Skein: 30 Quick Projects to Knit or Crochet. Both have some super cute projects in them that I'd like to try. I also picked up the latest issue of Knitscene that has some sweet projects and also features my friend Jill. So, there is much to look forward too . . . I also have purse/bag ideas floating around in my head that I want to try to create . . . so many ideas, so little time. TTFN!

So, we opted out of being included in the printed annual for our GDUSA Award, but Sara Lynn Design is listed on the GDUSA site under American Graphic Design Awards Winners and I've highlighted our name in the screen shot below. My previous employer was also honored, so I highlighted that as well. Not sure yet if I worked on any of the pieces that were chosen. If I find out I did I'll be sure to post them here.

I've finished the cardigan except for the addition of the dump truck. I'm having second thoughts. Mostly because it will take me awhile to do and I'm pressed for time these days. I can't decide if I should put it off and do in after the holidays or give it away as it is. Anyhow, while I decide I thought I'd share a pick of the finished piece as it is now.

Baby Cardigan: Part II

I am almost finished with the cardigan. It's been going pretty well, except for the neckline and button band/buttonhole band. I have never knitted anything that required picking up stitches. I found it really difficult and I think I took out the neck 5 or 6 times before I finally thought it looked okay (not perfect, but functional and fairly decent). I only have the buttonhole band left to do and then just sewing in the ends. I am thinking I would like to stitch something into the back as well. I've never done that before either, but think I could figure it out. My husband suggested a dump truck. I'm still undecided. For now I just want to finish up the knitting part.

Just the buttonhole band left to go!

Any suggestions on what could go on the back? Leave me a comment if you think of something super cool (preferably for a baby boy).

Baby Cardigan

I'm trying the baby sweater again, but this time I'm doing it with a pattern and taking my time. It's hard for me to be patient sometimes, but with this one I want to do it right. I've finished the back and one front side panel. So far it's going well, except for some curling issues, but I figure those will work out when I sew the pieces together. I had the yarn for a different project that didn't go as planned. I'm thinking of adding something to the back when I'm finished, but I haven't decided what yet.

First commissioned photo album

It's been awhile since I posted. October was a hectic, but fun, month. A trip to Vegas, parents in law for a visit and a wedding in California. Lots of fun, but not much time for posting or crafting. Anyhow, before things got too hectic I finished the album below for a friend of mine. She gave it as a gift to a friend for her twin boys 1st birthday. She asked for a "nautical/Cape Cod" type feel. The pictures don't really do it justice (I know I need to work on photographing my work better), but the album was possibly the best one I've made to date, AND it was my first commissioned photo album!

Baby Shower Crafty Fun

My best friend is due in October with her first child. It's a boy and I wanted to help plan a shower for her. She lives in MT as well, just 3 hours away (it is totally crazy that we both ended up in MT. We've been friends for 23 years). I designed an invitation, then wrapped some Hershey's minis in labels with a similar theme. I then decided I'd take the images from the invite and make some onesies. I used inkjet iron-on paper. In my experience these kinds of shirts don't last long, but for a little baby that is probably fine. He won't wear them very long. The shower was this past weekend and it was a ton of fun. She got some really great gifts. That baby will be stylin' :)

The theme for the invite was "rock & roll". Her husband plays the drums and I thought it would be fun to use that as a theme since they're having a boy. I developed the format/design based of a drum illustration I found. I made stickers that said "It's a Boy" to put over the bass drum to hold the invite closed. When opened it said "Let's Rock & Roll" . . . etc. They turned out so well I was thinking they could even work as birth announcements. Just replace the inside center page with a picture of the baby and the name, birthday, etc. info on the side panels.

This picture isn't very good, but I just made labels with the "It's a Boy" and drumset illustration and wrapped them around the minis. I used the full sheet label paper. It works well, although the color is dull due to the matte finish. I don't know if they make a glossy version but if they do it would probably work even better.

I created the designs for the onesies on the computer based off the colors and images from the invite. The only exception was one with a pic of a baby playing the drums. It's a great image. I then printed and ironed on the designs. I also gave her a "My 1st Levis" gift box that had a baby pair of Levis and a Jean jacket in it, along with a pair of socks and a T-shirt. I also gave her a Smartwool baby hat and mitten set in blue and red. Everything coordinated so she can mix and match. I can't wait to see him in everything!

Award Winner

Jim and I designed, printed and assembled our wedding invitations. We also created a booklet for our out-of-town guests so they would know a little about Kalamazoo, where to get a good sandwich or beer, what time to be at the church, etc. We entered the package in a couple design contests and yesterday received a certificate and notification that our design was chosen for the American Graphic Design Awards 2007. This contest is held by GDUSA. Pretty sweet! Only downside/s is they mispelled my maiden name on the certificate and it costs $250 to get it published in their annual. Still pretty sweet though!

Baby Album

A friend of mine had a baby girl at the end of June. I finally finished an album to send as a gift last week. It turned out really well and I love the fabric I found for the cover. It was a remenant at Jo-Ann's. I think it is upolstery fabric. Anyhow, the blue sheen went well with some chocolate brown fabric and ribbon I already had. I also had chocolate brown paper on hand for the interior covers and for the binding. It's a smaller version of the album we made for my parents, but without the window mattes. I put a custom card in the front that states the album was created in celebration of the birth of my friend's daughter. I love giving hand-made gifts. They always feel more personal. And I love making them.

Wedding Album

Jim and I created photo albums for our parents as Thank You gift following our wedding. They turned out really well. We had the photos printed locally and then mounted them in the albums and sent them off. This is the one I created for my folks. The cool thing is that the pages are mattes around the images. We cut them and folded them in half so that it created a kind of envelope. Then we cut out the matte windows, mounted the photos and tied them into the binding. It was a process, but the final result turned out so well I definitely hope to make some more in the future.

Baby Sweater

Well, I finished the baby sweater. It looks pretty cute but I'm not entirely sure it will fit any baby. The neck isn't very big and it doesn't have too much give. The sleeves actually ended up being too long, but I cuffed them and think they would work fine this way. I asked a friend of mine with a 4 month old how big his head is and she said she wasn't sure, maybe 16" around or so. I'm not entirely sure if I'll give it to someone or not, but at least now I know I can knit a sweater.

Well, I haven't gotten very far with my next dress, but here is a sneak peek at the fabric and style. Sorry for the crappy pic. I'm doing letter "C" in the bottom left corner with this yellow on white cotton flower patterened fabric. I'm actually really excited for the dress, but can't seem to motivate myself to finish cutting it out. That is my least favorite part of sewing—cutting everything out. It takes me so long and I just want to SEW!

In my break time from slacking on my dress I decided to give knitting a sweater a try. I've never knit a sweater before and instead of knitting an actual size from a pattern I decided to wing it and try this pattern in a baby size. Go figure :P I think I'm doing alright so far with the front and back pieces and the pattern is super simple. The sleeves are making me a little nervous, but I'm taking good notes on what I'm doing for the first one so that I can just recreate it for the second one. Wish me luck :) Hopefully it will at least be good for a stuffed animal or something . . .

Crafty Fun: Part 2

It has been so hot here lately it's crazy. I think they're going to have to rewrite the record books. The airport reported 106 yesterday! Today is much better, but all this hotness made me wish I had more summery dresses. The kind you can just pull on and be comfy and cool in. I hit Jo-Ann Fabrics post July 4th and they were still having a sale. I got 3 patterns and enough fabric for 3 dresses for $30. Sweet! Anyhow, here is dress #1:

I was inspired by our recent trip to the rodeo :) The fabric was only $2 a yard and it's super soft. One thing that I found out is that pattern sizes are totally whack! I should have read the pattern closer before I cut it out. I tried on the top before finishing it at the shoulder seams and it's a good thing I did. This dress has no zipper, it just slips over your head. If I had finished the shoulders I don't think it would have gone over my head. So, I improvised with the ties and I think it actually adds a bit of fun to the dress.

I'm hoping I can get the other two finished before summer is over :) But, we'll see. . . .

Crafty Fun: Part 1

I've had the last few days off and in the last month or so have had the itch to get crafty. Especially to sew. I made these onesies for a friend of mine who is due next month. She lives back in Michigan and invited me to her baby shower but I couldn't get back to go. I wanted to send her a gift and knew she is having a boy so I started looking for unique and cute boy baby clothes. Boo to what is out there. I was disappointed. I went to the fabric store to look for patterns to make something and there was 1, maybe 2 patterns that were for boys. I found someone making onesies like these and thought I'd give it a shot myself. They turned out so cute!! I think I may make some for ANOTHER friend of mine that is due in late fall (and also knows she's having a boy).

New Project

I used to write in journals almost every day. Up until a few years ago I'd usually finish a blank journal in a year. I've slacked big time and it's been on my mind lately to start up again. I thought maybe one reason I haven't done it so much lately is because my current journal is really hard to write in. It doesn't lay flat, which I think is totally annoying when you want to write a lot. So, I've decided to try using the computer and typing out my entries in snazzy designed pages created by me :) Then, every 6 months or every year I'll print them all out and bind them into a book. What do you think? I found a program that will create imposition layouts for me. That was the one thing that made it seem to daunting a task at first. Mine won't be nearly as complicated as the one shown on Wikepedia, but having to figure out how to match up pages for printing when you have over 10 can be a big pain. I will post some page designs as I get them done and of course pics of the books when they are bound. It will be a slow, ongoing project but I think it will give me the incentive to start writing again.

Pictures . . . finally!

It's been awhile since I posted pictures. This is where we went camping this past weekend. Isn't is amazing? I couldn't believe how beautiful the lake was (Cliff Lake) and how clear the water was. If you block out the mountains and trees you'd almost think you were in the tropics! I posted these pics on our Man, Woman, Dog, House site as well. We had a great time camping with our friends. Weekends like that are what makes living out here so great. It took us an hour and a half, maybe two to get there, pitched a tent, set up a campfire and just relaxed. I am still getting used to sleeping in the wilderness though and didn't sleep too well on Friday. It was sooooo quiet and I'm used to having a fan on and earplugs in (Jim snores). It was great, although 2 days with no shower is about as long as I can stand. Actually, the only thing that starts to bug me is having my hands and face be so dirty. I hate the feeling of dirty hands, it drives me crazy. Anyhow . . . these pics are to lure my friends and family out for a visit :) I miss you all.
